New work in Songs from the Extraction Zone - Symposium and Exhibition at SFAI April 28 - May 5
I have new visual artwork included in this group exhibition and important symposium happening at the Santa Fe Art Institute - very important work being done in New Mexico, and so pleased to be part of it. My contribution was two slate beds (seen below). The slate is from PA and they were made in New Mexico, I feel that they are very closely linked to the serious and catastrophic impact that fracking is having in both places... the size is around 7" x 4" x 1/4" with gouache, acrylic, and Chinese ink.
Album cover art for Excursions to Cloudland by the Dire Wolves
I'm proud to have made the cover art - with slate! - for the newest vinyl release from the Bay Area band The Dire Wolves. (I used to sing with them, once upon a Pittsburgh time)

The Other Border Wall Proposals - April 4, 2017
On April 4, 2017, J.M. Design Studios submitted our proposals to the US Border and Customs Control Agency for The Other Border Wall. This was a public RFQ that our design team signed up to bid on. We got covered in all the major media outlets including Time, CNN Money, The Guardian, The Wall Street Journal, The San Diego Union Tribune, The Chicago Tribune, The Verge, and many others.
J.M. Design Studios is an all-women team composed of Tereneh Mosley, Leah Patgorski, and myself. The next phase of our plan is to build prototypes of some of these ideas in the San Diego desert, near Trump's top picks.
In this case, my favorite comes from Pittsburgh-based J.M. Studio - whose seemingly nonsensical designs include a wall of 3 million hammocks and a wall of lighthouses, the latter adorned with eyes that allude the border patrol's watchful glance. It's sure to be rejected by the Trump administration. But as in the royal courts of medieval times, the jester tells the truth. - The San Diego Union Tribune
Santa Fe Art Institute: Water Rights Residency - April 2017
From March 29 - April 19, 2017 I am a resident artist at The Santa Fe Art Institute. I will be working on several ongoing projects here as well as planting the seeds for new work. As I work here, I will be seeing the world and my work through the lens of water rights. It is an honor to be here among such distinguished international artists!
My work here will be made as both solo work and collaborative work within an ongoing, evolving collective of artists and performers from Detroit, New York, and Pittsburgh.

Jill R. Baker, Megan Berner, Nicole Donnelly. You can see our works in progress, known as Desert Notes, here.

Lungs in the Air / Friday Dec 2 at Alloy Studios in Pittsburgh
As the resident artists selected to participate in the The Fresh Works Residency - part of the Kelly Strayhorn Theater - we are creating new work that will debut Friday December 2, 2016 at the Alloy Studios in Pittsburgh. I am working with Hannah G Thompson, who primarily creates wearable fabric sculptures that transform the body. Inspired by our shared interest in the connection and dis-connection of the human body to the earth body, we will make new work that brings the wearable sculptures and the slate material into the same performance space.
