About the work: The Lucy Lippard Chair and Simple Reader was an honest attempt to summon the spirit of this powerful and potent feminist into the room with me.  I made the chair to pair with The Nancy Spero Chair and Simple Reader in a formal gesture to bring the two of them together in conversation around the table.  The work functions as both memorial and educational, imagining that those who enter the exhibition know nothing or very little about these two feminists, and the simple readers I created can perhaps illuminate their story while also providing deeper context for my own work in the gallery space that is so inspired by them.
