Waterfall Vision
Gesso, acrylic on 69 pieces of slate
40' x 3' x 1/2"
2016
This work is inspired by the relationship of the earth body to the human body. The lines are inspired by the falling of water, the continuation of narrative and history/herstory, and the ways we can see the earth body and the human body come together and fall apart.

This work is inspired by women/ femme power and transformation. This includes trans, queer, and femmes who do not consider themselves women but are connected to the eternal female spirit that I consider the goddess energy. I wanted to show the continual transformation at work within one sculpture - and how it moves from one thing to another and is indeed First Place. I had one single sculpture that I brought into my studio and over the course of one day allowed it to transform with a variety of materials. The work was also turned into a short animation.
Umbrella Drawings (Drawing Session #02.02.15)
27 Drawings Total
Chalk, pastel, chalk, charcoal on paper
14" x 11" and 11" x 8"
2015
This work is inspired by my love for mark-making and quick charcoal sketches, using the umbrella as a form and inspiration. It symbolizes so many wonderful things to me including the formation of my signature. The umbrella holds so much beneath it, and acts as a witness and a shield in a powerful storm.
A City Without Guns
Found sticks in the shape of guns
Dimensions variable
2015
This work is inspired by my depression around the epidemic of gun violence we are witnessing here in America. There seems to be no end to it and no solution, and so as a reaction I pick up sticks that look like guns as a way to transform them, translate them, review them. This is an ongoing body of work.
The Witnesses: Gathering #1 (installation shot with myself)
Ink on slate
Dimensions variable (range from 5" x 5" to 14" x 14")
2015

Wild Clarity
Trailer for Wild Clarity (currently in-production - when complete will be 30-minute short film)
Performer: Jasmine Hearn, Jil Stifel
Cinematographer: Rafael Abreu-Canedo
Color video, no sound, 2:20
2015 - 2016
This work is inspired by my interest in creating site-specific performances in public spaces and having them filmed and turned into short films. This will be, when complete, the most professional film I have ever made and will go to festivals around the world. I am working with extremely talented professional performers and we are telling an interconnected, non-linear narrative that combines the black lives matter movement with the climate change movement and the anti-oppression work going on in my community in Pittsburgh.
Character Study #1: Jasmine Hearn
Performer: Jasmine Hearn
Camera: myself
Color video portrait from studio
Color video, sound, 3 mins
2015
This shows initial character studies I did with the great performer Jasmine Hearn. These character studies are short, short films that I like to make with performers I am interested in working with. They are inspired also by Warhol's film portraits that he called Screen Tests.
Translations
One-Hour Theater Performance for the New Hazlett Theater
Created during my residency at the theater
With 15 performers
2014
This work was inspired by a series of site-specific performances I had been creating for Pittsburgh during 2013-2014. This was my chance to translate all of those ideas into a one-hour performance. The work included song, movement, dance, spoken word, and recorded music and sound and was inspired by my feelings about sacred / desecrated and how we could destroy that which is sacred and then defend that violence, again and again.
