Pittsburgh Performance Actions, 2013-2014
A series of performances in public spaces throughout Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
About the series: Streets, sidewalks, rivers, public parks - the shared space known as Public Space that belongs to all of us. These sites were activated with short performances over the course of two years and gave me the chance to work as director (and performer) with a cast of talented people. Most were very DIY, two received support from small grants, but all were exciting and held potency. The stories presented were both intensely personal and overtly political. This series led to my residency at the New Hazlett Theater in late 2014 where I was able to translate the work for a one-hour stage adaptation with an incredible cast of performers (titled TRANSLATIONS). In 2015 - 2016 I received a residency with Pittsburgh Filmmakers, funded by The Pittsburgh Foundation and the Heinz Endowment, to adapt these stories into a 30-minute cinematic video film. The new body of work, Wild Clarity, is currently on-going into 2016.
