About the work: Canvas Drawings are similar to drawing sessions on paper, except that everything takes place on the site of a gessoed piece of canvas and they are begun as site-specific performance works and later finished in my studio. I sit on the canvas and arrange the chalk and charcoal around me in front of a small audience. The act of drawing takes place in response to a text being read or some other prompt. I have begun six of these, with only two finished (shown above).
